FAQs for Chester on a Plate Tours

FAQs

Things you need to know:

Why should I come if I’m from Chester?

We like to think that there are places that you haven’t been that we can take you to, that you’ll enjoy the different mix of venues even if you have been before, and that you’ll learn things about your hometown you didn’t already know!

Secret Chester

There are plenty of hidden gems in Chester, and stories from Roman, medieval and recent times that might surprise you. Plus, it’ll be a good day out.

Are gift vouchers available?

Yes, for all tours apart from corporate/private as these are bespoke. The Girl’s Night Out Tour can also be designed for your particular tastes but the price remains the same, therefore vouchers can be purchased.

Can children come on the tour?

Children may get bored! It is an adult-orientated tour and we go into bars and restaurants where alcohol is served. They are certainly welcome, however, and a discount is offered to those under 16.

Is there a lot of walking on the tours?

The Chester on a Plate Tour is around a 6k walk but at a gentle pace, there are a couple of inclines and some steps but mostly it is flat.

The Tasting Menu tours and Brunch and Brewery Tours are not as far, around 3k.

The Deva tour is not inclusive of a tour so far less walking involved.

Are there vegetarian and vegan options?

Yes. All tours accommodate vegetarians and vegans as a rule.

The only non-vegan tour is the Taste of Italy Tour.

Are food allergies and dietary requirements catered for?

We ask that you make us aware of your allergies when you book in order for us to inform our venues and keep you safe.

Are private, corporate, club or organization social tours available?

Yes. Contact us to discuss your needs for either a family/friend group, club, organisation or a company event. We can tailor it to your needs and arrange a time that suits you and your group.

How long is the tour?

The tours vary in length. The information is available if you click on the individual tour you’re interested in and scroll down.

Can I cancel my booking and get a refund?

We don’t give refunds, but we are happy to move your booking to another available date if you let us know more than 48 hours in advance.

Will the tour be cancelled in bad weather?

Unless snow or severe weather makes the tour dangerous, no. We try to run the tour in all weathers.

Can dogs come on the tour?

Unfortunately, no. Some people may be allergic or afraid of dogs, and some of the premises won’t allow dogs.
